Humboldt Wholesale hired me to redesign their WordPress website, as well as add eCommerce functionality for their wholesale customers. I chose to use WooCommerce as their eCommerce solution. Typically, WooCommerce is used to sell products and / or services directly to end users. Since Humboldt Wholesale sells products to wholesale customers, I needed to make a few modifications that would allow WooCommerce to function correctly for the client's customers. While MSRP prices were visible to the public, HW's prices for their products were only visible to customers who were given an account and were logged in. Since wholesale products are sold in bulk, most products would default to a specific amount when selected. If a customer wanted less than a case size or a particular product, they would be changed an additional "case break" fee. When a customer placed an order, instead of a monetary transaction taking place, HW was notified of the order, and the order was then finalized by an HW employee over the phone - there are certain shipping intricacies when dealing with wholesale volumes that made it impractical to finalize order through the client's website.
