The House & Garden Nutrient App is essentially H&G's online Nutrient Calculator optimized for mobile phones. Users enter their grow parameters, and the app generates a custom feed schedule tailored to suit the user's needs. The app also does not require an internet connection (after it has been downloaded), so users can use the app even if they don't have an internet connection via data or WiFi.
The House & Garden Nutrient App was the project that started my career as a freelance consultant. Before freelancing, I worked in-house for Humboldt Wholesale in the Marketing department and managed the Humboldt Wholesale and House and Garden US websites. When Humboldt Wholesale acquired House & Garden Nutrients in 2014, I was laid off in the process. I soon after had the idea to create a mobile app version of House & Garden's online Nutrient Calculator, and taught myself enough Android and Swift to build a working prototype of the app for H&G to demo (the current version of the app is built with React Native). H&G loved the app and wanted to add it to their arsenal, so I finalized the app design, got it approved by H&G, sold the app to the client and published the iOS and Android versions of the app on their respective app stores.
